NSW Biosecurity (Fire Ant) Emergency Order (No 9) 2024
Biosecurity (Fire Ant) Emergency Order (No. 9) 2024 was published on 17 July 2024, incorporating updates to the Queensland fire ant infested area. This supersedes Biosecurity (Fire Ant) Emergency Order (No. 8), published on 5 July.
On 15 July, the Queensland Government updated the Fire Ant Biosecurity Zone map, increasing the size of the Qld fire ant infested area and slightly adding to the size of the NSW fire ant infested area. This has implications for those moving fire ant carriers into NSW. Check the map to ensure you know your biosecurity duties.
The NSW suburbs fully or partially within the fire ant movement control areas remain the same.
A new outlying detection has been included at Currimundi in Queensland.
Anyone bringing organic mulch, compost, growing media, manure, soil, hay, straw, chaff, silage, potted plants, turf, agricultural equipment, earth moving equipment, sand, gravel, chitters, coal fines, coal stone, overburden and decomposed granite into NSW from Queensland must comply with the current NSW Biosecurity (Fire Ant) Emergency Order.
