March 2024

Drought Direction Index (DDI)

Wetting trend for most of NSW.

  • The DDI tracks the 150-day trend of the rainfall index.
  • The influence of ex-tropical cyclone Kirrily on the DDI can be seen across the northwest to southeast of the state, leading to a strong wetting trend for this region.
  • A weak drying trend continues in eastern parts of the Riverina and Murray LLS region. DPI is watching this region closely.
