Important - map colours have changed
The latest Biosecurity (Fire Ant) Emergency Order has revised the zone colours. The Order:
- defines the QLD fire ant infested area (red), which includes 5 km around all detections in QLD.
- defines the NSW fire ant infested area (orange), which includes areas in NSW within 5 km the detection in QLD.
- defines the NSW fire ant movement control areas (yellow) in South Murwillumbah and Wardell, which includes 5 km around all detections
- defines the NSW Protection Zone (blue hatched), which is the whole of NSW excluding fire ant infested areas or movement control areas.
If you are moving heavy vehicles,* agricultural & horticultural equipment,* earth moving equipment,* pallets, packaging, containers & covers,* building waste,* green waste,* mulch, soil, compost & manure, growing media, soil samples, hay silage & chaff, turf, potted plants, indoor potted plants, excavated plants & stumps,* sand, rocks & stones, recycled concrete aggregate (under 20mm diameter),* rocks & stones, recycled concrete aggregate (over 20mm diameter),* coal fines & chitters* from the parts of QLD and NSW shown in RED, ORANGE or YELLOW on this map, you must comply with the current Emergency Order.

The map shows the fire ant infested areas of South East Queensland and Northern NSW.
Note:The fire ant infested areas are based on the Fire Ant Biosecurity Zone map and the Interstate Plant Quarantine Zone map published by the Queensland Government but modified for the purposes of this order.
