Marine macrophytes

Mangroves, seagrass and macroalgae provide crucial habitat and food for NSW coastal ecosystems, but the effects of flooding on many macrophytes remain unclear.

This project expands on existing research to map macrophytes in NSW estuaries. It will use aerial imagery and ground-truthing to investigate whether flooding has affected the abundance and distribution of mangroves, Zostera seagrass, and the green seaweed Caulerpa filiformis.
