Farmers Night Out in Lismore

On a wintery Friday night, more than 70 primary producers and rural landholders packed the Rock Valley Hall in NSW’s Northern Rivers region to attend the Rural Recovery Support Services’ inaugural Farmers Night Out event.

Held in partnership with Lismore City Council, the free event was aimed at giving local farmers, who were heavily impacted by the February 2022 Northern Rivers flood, a night off from cooking, combined with a little entertainment, useful insights from speakers and information on the various recovery grants and programs available to them.

With Rural Adversity Mental Health Program (RAHMP) co-ordinators in attendance as well as Rural Recovery Support Service officers, attendees had the chance to mingle with fellow farmers and connect with services they might need.

Award-winning comedian, keynote speaker and mental health advocate, Jenny Wynter engaged the audience with a blend of humour, energy, and compassion, while Rose Wright from Regionality spoke about ways to increase profits on farm.

Dinner was provided by popular local caterers, Junkyard Barbecue who offered up a delicious Texan style dinner.
