Biography

Tom Granleese is a Research Officer in Quantitative Genetics and Institute Director of the Grafton Primary Industries Institute. For over 15 years Tom has worked in the agriculture industry in both private practice and research at the University of New England and now NSW DPI. He currently works in beef, sheep and goat research.

Tom’s interest lies in breeding program design where livestock producers can increase profitability through better genetic selection choices. Tom’s strengths lie in adoption of research and collaborative approaches to achieving research outcomes. Tom is currently project lead in developing a goat meat genetic resource herd and leading the NSW DPI component of the Low Methane beef Project.

Tom grew up on a mixed farming property near Temora and currently resides near Grafton. Prior to working in research, Tom managed an IVF and cloning laboratory for cattle in Rockhampton, QLD.
